“Wind is one on of the elements that horses are made of and it is normal to see wind in a living horse, but almost impossible to see it in a sculpture of one. If I had to give advice to another artist about how to create a horse, I would tell them above all show the wind that is a part of it, the rest will come naturally.”
“In the full, life-size sculptures if you can’t see the wind, the horse becomes a useless aesthetic expression. I don’t always find the wind in my horses, I look for it but ultimately it is the horse who has the last word. When I work for two or three months on a horse in metal wire, I always must keep the wind in the work and among all the challenges this is the hardest, but it is the only way for it to be born alive.”
